NATIONAL PROTECTION ASSOCIATION CANCELS WORK DRIVE IN VUKOVAR

( Editorial: --> 5508 ) ZAGREB, July 3 (Hina) - The National Protection Association on Friday said in a statement it had to cancel a volunteer work drive in Vukovar, eastern Croatia, planned for this weekend. The association was unable to find a sponsor for securing bus transport to Vukovar, the statement said. The work drive in Vukovar is one in a series staged every weekend since April by the association, which gathers members of National Protection units and Homeland War volunteers from 1991. The association pointed out that despite quality programmes it did not receive one kuna from the Croatian government, the Homeland War Defenders Ministry and many city authorities it had approached.
