ZAGREB, June 26 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on
Friday praised the decision of protesting unions to break the
strike in primary and secondary schools.
"The decision shows that a feeling of responsibility towards
students and parents has overcome the teachers," HDZ spokesman
Drago Krpina told a press conference.
By breaking the strike they display trust in parliamentary
representatives to always work on improving the position of
education workers, said Krpina.
HDZ wholly supports the proposed programme for the return of
displaced persons, refugees and exiled persons, assessing that it
is in line with state political interests, Krpina said.
It is wrong to reduce the programme to return of Croatian Serbs,
because the programme is actually a wider Government concept in the
solution of questions of return, reconstruction and normalisation
of life in liberated territories, explained Krpina.
Croats from Bosnia-Herzegovina and Yugoslavia, currently
accommodated in buildings in the liberated parts of Croatia, can be
fully secure because the programme also anticipates procedures for
their possible moving, said Krpina.
He recommended that those refugees do not be "duped by messages
which evoke panic".
