ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - The Croatian National Parliament will not
discuss a Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) motion for a referendum on
the return of Serbs, the House of Representative's Committee for
the Constitution, Procedural Rules and the Political System
decided unanimously on Tuesday.
The committee found the motion anti-constitutional.
The HSP suggested that the electorate should be asked whether it
agreed with the return to Croatia "of persons who opposed the
creation of an independent Croatia through armed rebellion or other
means".
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) MP Ivan Milas described the motion
as "racist" and explained that the referendum would violate the
equality of all citizens before the law.
