WEEK OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE BEGINS IN ZAGREB

( Editorial: --> 8079 ) ZAGREB, June 1 (Hina) - The 15th Week of Contemporary Dance will open at Zagreb's Croatian National Theatre Monday evening with a performance by British dance combo CandoCo. The event, which closes June 7, will feature dancers and choreographers from Israel, the Netherlands, Belgium, Wales, France, Slovenia and Croatia. CandoCo is a company trying to show that the art of dance is a way of expression even for those who have physical limitations, it was said at a press conference Monday, which also presented Israeli dancers Inbal Pinto Dance and Barak Marshall Dance, who will perform at Kerempuh Theatre tonight. On Wednesday, CondoCo will hold a workshop in a Zagreb high school. According to festival art director Mirna Zagar, 24 persons, mainly disabled, have already applied to take part. The British Council in Zagreb, which co-organised the festival, hopes CondoCo's performance will raise consciousness in Croatia on the hardships disabled people suffer. Croatia will be represented by the ballet ensemble of the Croatian National Theatre, which will perform Wednesday, and five more Croatian dance companies performing Thursday.
