SARAJEVO, May 29 (Hina) - A group of men barged into the office of
the Sarajevo "Dani" magazine Friday, and assaulted the paper's
editors and reporters.
The magazine is known for its critical views towards the ruling
Bosnia-Herzegovina structures.
Editor-in-Chief Senad Pecanin said Ismet Bajramovic, aka Celo
(forehead), well connected on the criminal scene, barged into the
magazine's offices accompanied with four other men.
Celo was denounced by the magazine as one of the "godfathers" of
organised crime in the part of Bosnia-Herzegovina under Bosniak
(Moslem) authorities.
Pecanin said Celo had threatened to destroy all the equipment, and
had added he would come armed next time.
Bajramovic explained his reason for barging was "the
dissatisfaction of Bakir Izetbegovic and Senad Sahimpasic with
Dani's articles, Pecanin said.
Bakir Izetbegovic is the son of the chairman of the Bosnia-
Herzegovina Presidency, Alija Izetbegovic, and Senad Sahimpasic is
an influential member of the ruling Social Democratic Action party
(SDA) and member of the Bosnian Federation Parliament.
"Dani" wrote about these two as persons abusing their political
influence for personal gain.
Pecanin said the assault had been reported to the police who had
investigated the scene. He stressed the magazine had received
letters of support from several western countries' embassies in
Sarajevo.
