PROTEST AGAINST ALIENATION OF CRO TV'S CHANNEL 3

( Editorial: --> 7255 ) ZAGREB, May 28 (Hina) - Employees of Croatian Television's (HTV) Channel 3 on Thursday protested against the possibility of alienating the third channel from the Croatian Radio Television (HRT) system with the aim of licensing it out. The suggested a fourth channel as a solution. If the third channel was to be alienated then about 1,000 people would lose their jobs, the protesters believe. They reject the misappropriation of any HRT property and request the resignation and accountability of HRT employees who worked on having "one-third of (the protesters') work space taken away and who by slandering abroad were destroying the reputation of the institution, thus deliberately and outrightly destroying the reputation of Croatia". The protesters harshly criticised colleagues in the "Forum 21" group, whom they called "the carcinoma of HTV" and "foreign mercenaries who spit on the institution from which they live". Employees of Channel 3 also requested the commencement of talks on privatisation of HRT, by giving the shares to the people who created HRT. The protesters decided to choose delegates who will inform the presidency of the Croatian National Parliament and the presidency of the European Parliament of their requests.
