ZAGREB, May 28 (Hina) - A DM8.6 million-worth agreement was signed
in Zagreb Thursday on the replacement of the electric filter
installation in the Plomin I steam power plant, on the northern
Adriatic peninsula of Istria.
A new electric filter will make it possible to fully abandon the use
of domestic charcoal extremely rich with sulphur and switch to the
exclusive use of imported pit coal, which contains only one per cent
of sulphur.
According to Croatia's Electric Utility Co. (HEP), the electric
filter installation should be installed by year's end. It will make
emissions from Plomin I fully compatible with European and Croatian
standards for environment protection.
The new installation is part of a programme on the revitalisation of
Plomin I, which has been carried out for several years.
Today's agreement was signed by HEP's Damir Kopjar, Norbert
Seyfert, sales manager with the filter manufacturer the German
company Rotemuehle, and Pavo Ancic of Djuro Djakovic Engineering.
