SARAJEVO, May 18 (Hina) - Voters will begin their registration for
general elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina on June 1 until June 27,
the Office of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in
Europe (OSCE) in Sarajevo said in a statement on Monday.
Registered can be citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina who did not
register for last year's general elections. They can request
registration of their name was on the country's 1991 census, the
statement said.
If the voter is not on the census, the person has to prove her/his
citizenship, and municipal authorities must check out such
information.
Persons who last year applied to be included in the list of voters,
but had been refused, may repeat their application, while officials
entrusted with the organisation of the elections have the
responsibility to establish the validity of the applications.
Most refused applications for last year's registration applied to
Serbs who arrived in Bosnia-Herzegovina from Croatia during the
war.
They did not have the right to vote, because, according to
regulations, they could not receive Bosnian citizenship.
