ZAGREB, May 12, (Hina) - A delegation of the Spanish Senate
Committee for International Relations, headed by Jose Luis Lopez
Henares, on Tuesday visited the Croatian Chamber of Commerce where
they held talks with the director of the International Relations
Sector, Dunja Konjevod and the director of the Infrastructure,
Traffic and Construction Sector, Zlatan Frohlich.
The talks focused on possibilities of trade expansion between
Croatia and Spain.
The introduction of a regular flight route Zagreb - Madrid has
helped strengthen cooperation in tourism between two the
countries.
The Spanish hotel group Sol Media has joined several hotel chains in
Croatia.
Talks also included possibilites of joint investments.
Trade between Croatia and Spain last year amounted to US $102
million, of which Croatia's export was worth only US $8 million and
import 94 million.
Croatia's main export commodities to Spain were timber, fish, steel
and chemical products. Imports consisted of motor vehicles,
electrical machines and food products.
Trade in 1990 amounted to US $36 million, and its rise is evident,
although this still does not suit the economic potential of the two
countries.
