ZAGREB, May 9 (Hina) - At its next regular session on May 14 the
Croatian government should adopt "binding instructions" on the
implementation of a procedure for the individual return of persons
who left Croatia, which the government passed April 27.
According to spokesman Neven Jurica, today the government set up a
working group which should draft the "binding instructions" early
next week.
Jurica did not specify what the document will contain.
"In any case it considers what the international community has
lately been saying about (the aforementioned procedure)", Jurica
told reporters after today's government meeting.
It was also agreed today that the May 14 government session should
work out the preliminaries for drafting a programme on the return of
and care for displaced persons and refugees in line with
conclusions the parliament reached April 24.
Jurica said that "all bodies and members of the government agree on
the contents of basic documents, return principles and their
enforcement."
Asked by reporters whether Croatia was facing sanctions, the
government spokesman answered in the negative.
The international community threatened Croatia with sanctions if
the country fails to facilitate the return of Serbs.
Present at today's meeting were Premier Zlatko Matesa, Deputy
Premiers Mate Granic, Borislav Skegro and Ljerka Mintas-Hodak,
parliament deputy speaker Vladimir Seks, the President's advisor
for foreign affairs, Neven Madey, the President's deputy chief of
staff, Vesna Skare-Ozbolt, and Croatia's Ambassador to the United
Nations Ivan Simonovic.
