DRVAR, May 5 (Hina) - High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina
Carlos Westendorp and representatives of the international police
force and Stabilisation Force (SFOR) visited the Croat-controlled
town of Drvar, western Bosnia, on Tuesday.
Westendorp held separate meetings with representatives of Drvar
municipal and Herceg-Bosna canton authorities. The talks, which
focused on the return of refugees, were held behind closed doors.
After the meetings, Westendorp expressed satisfaction that the
canton authorities had accepted cooperation with the international
community and local authorities in Drvar, adding one had to do
everything to prevent incidents like the one which occurred on
April 24.
The process of return has to continue and it will continue - not only
of Serbs to Drvar, but Croats to central Bosnia and Posavina and
Serbs and Croats to Sarajevo, the High Representative said.
By May 9 the canton authorities have to implement the agreement on
reorganisation of the canton police, signed on April 28, Westendorp
said.
According to the agreement, the canton interior ministry will
appoint a Croat superintendent of the Drvar police and a Serb deputy
superintendent.
It was agreed today that the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) bench
would appoint the new deputy head of the Drvar municipal
leadership.
