RUGOVA CALLS ON AVOIDANCE OF PROVOCATION

( Editorial: --> 7749 ) PRISTINA, April 18 (Hina) - Kosovo Albanian leader Ibrahim Rugova warned all Kosovo's municipal heads Saturday that tension in Kosovo was mounting. Rugova said Belgrade authorities continued to increase military and police troops, as well as provocation, especially in some areas of this Yugoslav province. The Kosovo Information Centre reported that Rugova had called on representatives of the Democratic Union of Kosovo to keep restrained and to avoid provocation. He stressed that the international community, especially the United States, were involved with the situation in the region. Proof of this was the tour of the US State Department deputy, Strobe Talbott, of European countries, concentrating on the Kosovo issue, Rugova said. (hina) lm 181723 MET apr 98
