PRISTINA, April 13 (Hina) - About 20,000 Kosovo Albanians on Monday
held a 30-minute peaceful protest on the streets of Kosovo's
capital, Pristina.
The protest ended peacefully.
Albanian sources said on Monday that Serbian police had on Sunday
used battons to disperse several thousand Albanians who had been
holding a peaceful protest in Peca.
The biggest Kosovo Albanian political party, the Kosovo democratic
Union, and about a dozen other parties called on Albanians to hold
peaceful protests by walking the town streets every day, in order to
attract the attention of the international community which, they
said, should get involved in the resolution of the Kosovo issue.
Representatives of Kosovo Albanians requested the international
community to mediate in possible talks with Serbian authorities on
solving the Kosovo issue, which Serbia is opposing.
