The NHS urges the government to propose to the parliament that it adopt legislation regulating this matter.
The trade union recalls that it has been pushing for higher taxes on the rich for years and that the global economic crisis has prompted many, including some rich people, to propose extra taxes on the rich in order to ease the burden of the crisis on other people.
The NHS believes that the current election year is the right time to introduce higher taxes on wealth in Croatia.
It proposes, among other things, tax relief on re-invested profit, reintroduction of a dividend tax with progressive tax rates, as well as the imposition of a capital gains tax.
The NHS also calls for the abolishment of the so-called privileged pensions.
