SOLIDARITY MEETING COMMENCES IN BANJA LUKA

( Editorial: --> 9574 ) BANJA LUKA, March 14 (Hina) - A two day solidarity meeting began in Banja Luka on Saturday, organised by the Justitia et Pax Commission of the European Bishops' Conference, with representatives of various organisations from about 20 countries participating. This is the first such meeting to be held in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Opening the solidarity meeting, president of the European Justitia et Pax Commission Hans van Munster said that the aim of the meeting is to achieve solidarity with the Banja Luka bishop Franjo Komarica and all those who wish to return to their homes as well giving support to the Dayton agreement. Van Muster advocated a "strategy of general reconciliation". Addressing those present, the Banja Luka bishop Franjo Komarica said the "co-existence of Croats, Bosniaks and Serbs is the fate of Bosnia-Herzegovina". The war in Bosnia-Herzegovina has stopped but peace has not developed, said the assistant Sarajevo bishop and president of the BH Justitia et Pax Commission, Pero Sudar. "Injustice is turning into an almost insurmountable obstacle to long lasting peace," said Sudar. Emphasising that "there is no peace without reconciliation", Sudar expressed conviction that the return of displaced persons is the basic precondition for every other right in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
