ITALIAN PAINTER SASSU DONATES WORK TO VUKOVAR MUSEUM

( Editorial: --> 8492 ) ZAGREB, Mar 10 (Hina) - Eminent Italian painter Aligi Sassu donated one of his works to the Vukovar museum. Sassu will display his latest set of paintings called The Divine Comedy Tuesday evening in Zagreb. The Vukovar Museum was looted during the Serbian aggression on Croatia, and the castle which hosted it suffered heavy damage. The museum worked in exile since 1991. Today Sassu handed the painting for Vukovar to Croatian Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic. Biskupic thanked the painter for his gift, recalling that Italian and other painters from around the world had already donated their works to the Vukovar museum. Also present at Biskupic's meeting with Sassu was eminent Italian art critic Giorgio Segato of Padova, who was among the first to take part in assisting the Vukovar museum. Thanks to an initiative on Segato's part, an exhibition of works donated by Italian graphic artists based on Dante's Divine Comedy will open in Zagreb tomorrow.
