HDZ NATIONAL COUNCIL HOLDS FIRST SESSION

( Editorial: --> 4998 ) ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - The newly-established National Council of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) held its first session under the chairmanship of HDZ President Franjo Tudjman on Thursday evening. The Council consists of the HDZ Presidency and the HDZ Main and National Committees. A statement issued from the HDZ secretary-general's office on Friday morning said the Council discussed the work of HDZ's fourth general convention which was held last weekend. The convention was described as very successful. In line with its statutory jurisdiction, the Council made decisions on the further work of all HDZ governing bodies. The Council also decided to establish committees for party issues, state administration and national security, economic and social questions, foreign policy, culture and society and relations with the media, relations with associations, inter-party relations and for relations with national minorities, the statement said.
