CELIJE, Feb 23 (Hina) - The exhumation of Croat soldiers and
civilians commenced on Monday in Celije in the Vukovar-Srijem
County, eastern Croatia. Between 10 and 15 bodies are expected to be
exhumed from three locations in the village during the next few
days.
"Today 10 victims were exhumed, one of which has been identified,"
said the president of the association of families of missing
Croatian soldiers from the Osijek-Baranja County, Stefica Krstic,
who was present at the exhumation. It is believed that soldiers from
Laslov, Silas and Tenja - villages in the territory of the Osijek-
Baranja County - are buried in Celije.
Exhumation was supposed to start in Ernestinovo today, a village in
the Osijek-Baranja County, but was postponed because of marshy
terrain. On Thursday exhumation should start in Dalj in that same
county.
In the Osijek-Baranja County 227 persons are listed as missing and
1,099 in the Vukovar-Srijem County.
