ZAGREB, 18 Feb (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivo
Sanader received the Swedish government secretary for political
asylum and migration, Gun-Britt Andersson, on Wednesday in
Zagreb.
Andersson is interested in the process of returning refugees and
displaced persons and the measures the Croatian Government has
taken, emphasising that according to Swedish public opinion these
are very sensitive and important issues.
Sanader said that during the aggression on Croatia and Bosnia-
Herzegovina, the Croatian Government provided for numerous
refugees and displaced persons of which there are about 200,000
even now in Croatia.
To hasten the process of return the Croatian government in April
last year signed an agreement with UNHCR and appointed a trust
establishment committee, said Sanader.
For the returning process to succeed it is necessary to establish
favourable economic and security conditions, said Sanader.
