GENEVA, 26 Jan (Hina) - The program committee of the South East
European Cooperation Initiative (SECI) met at the UN headquarters
in Geneva on Monday.
Chaired by Erhard Busek, government officials and economy
specialists from 10 member-countries, countries that support the
initiative, as well as European Union and World Bank
representatives discussed preparations for the realisation of six
priority projects of regional cooperation.
Croatia is not a member of SECI but is interested in some of the
projects and therefore a delegation participated in the meeting.
At the meeting it was said that projects dealing with modernisation
and widening of entry borders in the region have progressed the
most.
It was pointed out that technical preparations and necessary
documentation for seeking credit from the World Bank had been
completed for all projects except for the Croatian border entries
and Moldavian border entries. It is expected that these two
countries will complete all documentation and will together
request credit from the World Bank.
A representative of the World Bank said that credit will be given
according to its usual conditions for South-East European
countries.
