ZAGREB, Jan 14 (Hina) - Former Italian President Francesco Cossiga
arrived in Zagreb Wednesday evening for a four-day visit to
Croatia.
Relations between Croatia and Italy are good, Cossiga told
reporters upon arriving at Zagreb's Pleso airport, adding through
joint efforts they could be considerably improved in view of
building a Europe which sees Croatia as its integral part.
On the eve of January 15, the day when the UNTAES mandate in eastern
Croatia ends and the peaceful reintegration of the area is
completed, Cossiga said this day was of "great importance, not only
for the Croat people, who will realise full territorial integrity,
but also as a transition towards the stabilisation of an area
important for peace in Europe and the Mediterranean."
