ZAGREB, 7 Jan (Hina) - Serb Orthodox believers celebrated Christmas
in a crowded Church of the Holy Transfiguration in Zagreb on
Wednesday.
The Christmas service was conducted by parish priest Milenko
Popovic.
Popovic wished everyone a merry Christmas and read a traditional
address by the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Pavle.
In all their troubles the Serb people "have found strength to see
what their sins and mistakes are, to repent and to return to the path
of their holy predecessors, and to mark and celebrate the holidays
of their faith in very difficult conditions," the address said.
Despite all their suffering and problems, the Serb people "still
feel the joy of Christmas and try to celebrate it in an appropriate
way, which you, who fill our temples in the homeland and abroad on
this festive morning, bear witness to", the address said.
