ZAGREB, Jan 5 (Hina) - A new plaque was put up in the yard of the
Clinic for Children's Diseases in Zagreb on Monday in memory of
police officer Ivan Markulin who died in an attempt to defuse a
cluster bomb fired by rebel Serb forces in 1995.
The memorial plaque was unveiled by Interior Minister Ivan Penic,
who said that eight police explosives experts had been killed in the
line of duty since 1991. Penic stressed that the Interior Ministry
would provide permanent care for their families and children.
Six persons were killed and 175 were wounded in a Serb missile
attack on Zagreb on May 3, 1995.
