VUKOVAR, Dec 23 (Hina) - The Party of Danubian Serbs (PPS) on Thursday presented its candidates for the fourth and fifth constituencies in Vukovar. The PPS has given up putting up its candidates on the minority list because "it does
not want to participate in breaking up the Serb corps in Croatia," PPS president Rade Leskovac told reporters at today's news conference in Vukovar. Over the past three months, the PPS has on several occasions called on Serb political parties and organisations in Croatia to form a single coalition for the upcoming election. "Regretfully, no one responded to the initiative. Some opinion polls have shown that such a coalition would result in at least three parliamentary seats from state lists and one from the minority list," Leskovac said. The PPS believes there is no "'Serb issue' as it used to exist in Croatia in early 1990", Leskovac said, adding, "we have accepted Croatia as our state
VUKOVAR, Dec 23 (Hina) - The Party of Danubian Serbs (PPS) on
Thursday presented its candidates for the fourth and fifth
constituencies in Vukovar.
The PPS has given up putting up its candidates on the minority list
because "it does not want to participate in breaking up the Serb
corps in Croatia," PPS president Rade Leskovac told reporters at
today's news conference in Vukovar.
Over the past three months, the PPS has on several occasions called
on Serb political parties and organisations in Croatia to form a
single coalition for the upcoming election. "Regretfully, no one
responded to the initiative. Some opinion polls have shown that
such a coalition would result in at least three parliamentary seats
from state lists and one from the minority list," Leskovac said.
The PPS believes there is no "'Serb issue' as it used to exist in
Croatia in early 1990", Leskovac said, adding, "we have accepted
Croatia as our state and believe the Serb issue in Croatia can be
solved only within the Constitution and law".
Due to division among Serb political parties and organisations, the
PPS does not expect any particularly good results in the
parliamentary election, the PPS president said.
