ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - Assistants of Croatian Interior Minister, Josko Moric and Zeljko Sacic, on Friday presented results of a recent police operation called "KOR" conducted throughout the country. The aim of the operation, carried
out between 14 October and 5 November, was to intensify the work of policemen, particularly at night, and to supervise, in cooperation with the State Inspectorate the work of cafes, restaurants and other catering facilities. Josko Moric told a news conference that to date police had recorded 1090 cases of violating working hours, namely 1090 cafes and restaurants worked overtime. According to police officials, 874 persons were subject to police control, 234 persons were detained and 126 people were arrested on the grounds of previously issues warrants. recent police operation called "KOR" conducted throughout the
country.
The aim of the operation, carried out between 14 October and 5
November, was to intensify the work of policemen, particularly at
night, and to supervise, in cooperation with the State Inspectorate
the work of cafes, restaurants and other catering facilities.
Josko Moric told a news conference that to date police had recorded
1090 cases of violating working hours, namely 1090 cafes and
restaurants worked overtime.
According to police officials, 874 persons were subject to police
control, 234 persons were detained and 126 people were arrested on
the grounds of previously issues warrants.
Police seized 175 pieces of firearms, 60 pieces of cold weapons,
over 15,000 pieces of ammunition, 52 hand grenades and 12.9
kilograms of explosive.
In addition, police found drugs in 118 cases, confiscated 47
vehicles and 156 counterfeit notes.
Charges were preferred against a total of 16,098 persons.
In the period between 14 October and 5 November, seven cases of
murder and 14 attempts of murder happened and police managed to shed
light on them. We connect it with the successful conduct of the
"Kor" operation, Zeljko Sacic told reporters.
Better results were produced in prevention of organised crime, as
the smuggling of persons, and drug dealing in streets also
decreased thank to a larger number of policemen on duty, Sacic
said.
The chief state inspector Branko Jordanic also voiced satisfaction
with the results of this police operation during which the
Inspectorate supervised over 2,000 coffee houses, restaurants and
other catering faculties. It pressed charges against 362
facilities.
