CAIRO, Nov 1 (Hina) - Croatian Ambassador to Egypt, Drago Stambuk, on Monday laid a wreath at the memorial monument of Mother Homeland at the Croatian refugee cemetery El Shatt in Cairo, on the occasion of All Saints' Day, the Embassy
said in a statement. More than 700 Croatians from central Dalmatia were buried at the El Shatt cemetery when they died during exile in the Sinai Desert from 1943 to 1945. According to the El Shatt Memorandum which Croatia and Egypt signed this July in Cairo, the cemetery was turned over to the care and maintenance of Croatia. Present were also Egyptian officials headed by General Ahmed Shafik.(hina) lml
