conference of trade unions for south-eastern Europe is to take
place either in Croatia or in Bosnia-Herzegovina, which should
contribute to ensuring peace and democratic development in the
region, said representatives of German trade unions, who are paying
two-day visit to Croatia.
To ensure peace is necessary for the development of democracy and
the economic recovery of all states in the region, and Croatia can

eastern Europe, said the leader of the German union of workers in
food-processing industry, tourism and catering, Franz-Josef

German trade unions will help Croatian unions, and particularly the
Association of Independent Trade Unions (SSSH) that is the host of
Germans, in their attempts to strengthen ties with international
unionists' movements.
The Germans are willing to help in the restructuring of the economy
by urging German companies to invest in Croatia, said the leader of
the German union of workers in chemical, power and mining
industries, Hubertus Schmoldt.
The forthcoming election in Croatia is very important for the
destiny of Croatian trade unions that should receive more room for
their activities, German unionists told reporters.
