President Franjo Tudjman said Wednesday his meeting with Croats in the Republic of South Africa, to take place on Thursday and Friday, was an important part of his visit to the country. Tudjman took part in Pretoria Wednesday in the inauguration of the new president of the South African Republic, Thabo Mbeki. The ceremony was attended by some 30 heads of state and 96 prime ministers. The meeting was also attended by heads of state of G8 countries due to the upcoming meeting at the highest level in Germany. The South African Government did not forward invitations to Yugoslavia and the Comoro Islands. "This is one of the biggest meetings of heads of state," Tudjman told Croatian reporters.
