THIRD EURO-MEDITERRANEAN CONFERENCE OPENS IN STUTTGART

STUTTGART STUTTGART, April 15 (Hina) - German Foreign Minister Joscka Fisher on Thursday opened the third Euro-Mediterranean conference, which was for the first time attended by Croatia. Fisher pointed to the significance of the political connection between the European Union and Mediterranean countries, adding the European Union would soon offer a joint strategy for the Mediterranean. Commenting on the Kosovo crisis, Fisher said that the issue in Kosovo is about basic European values, and not about religious or national belonging. He pointed to the unified stand-point of the international community, according to which Belgrade must fulfil all conditions before the end of NATO operations. The ambitious project of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation is to establish a trade free zone by the year 2010.
