ZAGREB, Mar 31 (Hina) - Croatia's Constitutional Court on Wednesday rescinded a provision of the Public Gathering Law according to which local authorities have the right to determine at which locations public rallies may and at which
it may not take place. Six judges voted in favour of the rescinding, while five voted against. The judges who voted in favour of the contentious provision believe the right to public gathering is "the citizens' classic right" old some 200 years in Europe. Pointing out the issue has been politicised, the Constitutional Court judges who voted against the rescinding say attention must be paid to avoid anarchy, and emphasise the freedom issue is misinterpreted.(hina) ha jn
