CROATIAN LOWER HOUSE ADOPTS LAW ON STIMULI IN AGRICULTURE

Autor: ;LMLI;
ZAGREB, March 12 (Hina) - The Croatian National Parliament House of Representatives on Friday adopted the Law on Stimuli in Agriculture, according to which about US$159 million will be allocated for stimuli and compensation in agriculture. The Law envisages greater stimuli in so-called strategic areas, mountainous regions and areas of special government care, islands and the Peljesac peninsula, as well as areas of special interest for Croatia. The budgetary resources will also be allocated for growing corn and pig fattening. The new law, adopted due to Croatia's future accession into the World Trade Organisation, will result in stimuli for plant production being paid according to the agricultural area. Farmers will receive one-time help from the state for new vines and fruit-bearing trees, and stimuli in stock breeding will be paid per head.(hina)
