They held talks with the head of the Croatian Mine-Clearing Centre (HCR) Damir Gorseta, and his deputy Josip Tulicic. The French government's assistance in mine-clearing was agreed at a conference on the reconstruction of development of Croatia held in Zagreb last December. clearing in Croatia with a million French francs and this will be
the beginning of future French assistance in the mine-clearing of
Croatian areas," French Ambassador to Croatia Jean Jacques
Galliarde said in Sisak on Wednesday.
Galliarde visited the town 50 south-east of Zagreb in the company of
the French Embassy's first secretary, Nicolas Warnery. They held
talks with the head of the Croatian Mine-Clearing Centre (HCR)
Damir Gorseta, and his deputy Josip Tulicic.
The French government's assistance in mine-clearing was agreed at a
conference on the reconstruction of development of Croatia held in
Zagreb last December.
"France will decide what to invest the envisaged million francs
into on the basis of HCR's mine-clearing projects. We will assist in
the mine-clearing of houses (...) and agricultural land to enable
returnees to freely work the fields," Gaillarde said.
HCR's Gorseta thanked the French Ambassador for the financial
assistance and pointed out Croatia was in great need of
international financial help for mine-clearing.
