ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - Croatia is faced with very serious manifestations and calls for suspension and violation of laws, Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) vice-president Vladimir Seks said on Friday. One of those manifestations, which
Seks deems to be fatal for the constitutional order and functioning of democratic institutions, was the announcement by the Opposition Six that they would stage protests, as well as a statement by the leader of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) saying the SSSH would support the Social-Democratic Party (SDP) in its actions. ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - Croatia is faced with very serious
manifestations and calls for suspension and violation of laws,
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) vice-president Vladimir Seks said
on Friday.
One of those manifestations, which Seks deems to be fatal for the
constitutional order and functioning of democratic institutions,
was the announcement by the Opposition Six that they would stage
protests, as well as a statement by the leader of the Federation of
Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) saying the SSSH would
support the Social-Democratic Party (SDP) in its actions.
Speaking at today's party press conference, Seks warned that
manipulating the justified discontent of workers created a pre-
revolutionary atmosphere.
He rejected assessments saying that the HDZ was ready to use
repressive measures to "keep the current state of affairs". It is
exactly those assessments that are aimed at causing repression,
Seks said adding the HDZ would not "be duped into doing something
like that".
Speaking about the decision of the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina Parliament not to include into its agenda the
ratification of the Agreement on Special Relations between Croatia
and Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, another HDZ vice-president,
Ivic Pasalic, said the decision was disturbing and disappointing.
"The HDZ and the state authorities believe that the Agreement is of
utmost, almost fundamental importance, for the implementation of
(the) Dayton (agreement) and the overall stability of Bosnia-
Herzegovina and the region", Pasalic said.
He added though that he believed the Agreement would soon be
ratified.
Asked by several reporters about the condition of Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman, HDZ spokesman Ivica Ropus said that
President Tudjman was not ill and that he was performing his state
duties as usual and on a daily basis.
There is no doubt that the doctors' consultation would issue a
public statement, if it deemed such a thing necessary. All
speculations about his condition are really inappropriate, Ropus
added.
