ZAGREB, Jan 29 (Hina) - The reorganisation of the Croatian Defence Ministry (MORH) and Croatian Army (HV) is moving from the planning stages to actual implementation said Croatian Defence Minister Pavao Miljavac at a press conference
on Thursday. According to Miljavac, the defence minister will have eight assistants in addition to the chief-of-staff and in this way operate more effectively. One of the new positions to be created is assistant for defence policies and another for communications and information technology. Miljavac announced the establishment of new administrative units for planning, programming armed forces and other new initiatives in the duties of MORH. The entire Croatian Army is to made up of 62,000 people he said adding that this will continue to include seven professional guard brigades of which three would be exclusively professional while the remaining four would be involved in training

According to Miljavac, the defence minister will have eight
assistants in addition to the chief-of-staff and in this way
operate more effectively. One of the new positions to be created is
assistant for defence policies and another for communications and
information technology. Miljavac announced the establishment of
new administrative units for planning, programming armed forces
and other new initiatives in the duties of MORH.
The entire Croatian Army is to made up of 62,000 people he said
adding that this will continue to include seven professional guard
brigades of which three would be exclusively professional while the
remaining four would be involved in training and include soldiers
on service duty.
The Air Force (HRZ) and Navy (HRM) will remain professional units
and will be supplemented conditionally on the supply of new
armament and equipment.
Four new radars are to e obtained for sea control while the
upgrading of MIG 21's will be decided upon following an
international call for tenders.
Speaking about relations between the Croatian Army and
Stabilisation Forces, Miljavac said he opposed SFOR's military
games announced for July.
Minister Miljavac announced that he would soon be visiting Israel.
