BELI MANASTIR, Jan 4 (Hina) - The main committee of the Serb
Democratic Baranja Party (SDBS) on Monday harshly denounced "all
individuals and groups who violated public peace and order in the
town of Beli Manastir (eastern Croatia) during the Christmas and
New Year's holidays."
"We especially condemn physical assaults and abuse of residents of
Serb nationality which occurred in the town centre. We most harshly
condemn the destruction of the bust of Jovan Lazic, a participant of
the anti-fascist war, as well as the taking down of the flag from the

The mayor of Beli Manastir, Josip Kompanovic, told Hina that the
main committee statement was "fabricated and exaggerated", as
there is no official information about certain occurrences.
The situation in Beli Manastir is not as had been reflected by the
statement, Kompanovic said.
Head of the Osijek-Baranja police department of analyses, Zeljko
Vajda, told Hina that an unknown person had on January 2 taken down
the Serb national minority flag, but from the city council in Darda,
while police had already issued information about a bombing in the
Branjin Vrh village, near Beli Manastir, on the night of December
