ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - The Croatian government's Media and Public Relations Office on Friday refuted yesterday's claim by the Union of Civil Servants of Croatia that more than half of about 700 people employed at the government and
parliament had opted for a strike at a recent referendum. Seven public and state service unions held a referendum after the government turned down their demand for a 8.5 percent basic salary increase and the payment of a 1,000 kuna Christmas and 400 kuna child's bonus. The strike was announced for Dec. 8. The statement from the government's office says that 354 of 520 employed in the government's offices are members of the civil servants' union.(hina) ha
