ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - Former head of the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) Josip Perkovic took the witness stand Friday in the trial against Tihomir Oreskovic and four other residents of Croatia's central town of Gospic,
indicted for war crimes against Serb civilians in 1991. Perkovic told the court he knew nothing about events in Gospic in October 1991, and had learnt about a meeting at which the killing of Serb civilians had allegedly been planned through the media. Perkovic's testimony concludes the three-day hearing of so-called direct witnesses in the trial, and the investigation is being referred to the county court. Oreskovic is suspected of having ordered, and the other four, Ivica Rozic, Martin Markovic, Joso Miletic and Ivan Jovanovic, of having taken part in the killing of some forty citizens of Serb nationality in Gospic in October 1991.
