ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Friday
afternoon held talks with Bosnia-Herzegovina's delegation, led by
Presidency Chairman, Zivko Radisic, who attended the Zagreb Summit
earlier in the day.
Mesic's spokeswoman, Vjera Suman, informed about his meeting with
Bosnian officials.
According to Suman, the Croatian president said it was good that a
message was sent from the Summit about the wish referring to living
together in an united Europe.
Mesic assessed that so far the bilateral talks between Zagreb and
Sarajevo had been conducted successfully, but after the Summit, the
bilateral cooperation should be even more successful.
Croatia and Bosnia should step up efforts so as to settle
infrastructure problems and promote the economic cooperation,
Suman quoted Mesic and Radisic as saying.
Radisic described the economic situation in his country as very
grave and for him the only exit from such state of affairs is the
speedy entry into Europe.
Our interest is to take as short as possible path to Europe, Radisic
told Mesic and added that Bosnia would like now conclude a free
trade agreement with Croatia and resolve legal and property-rights
issues as well as the issues relating to the succession to the
former Yugoslav federation (SFRY).
Radisic said Croatia "can count on our openness and good-
neighbourly cooperation.
Mesic and Radisic also discussed the developments in the Federal
Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) and agreed that the speed of
democratisation of that country would depend on its political and
economic cooperation with neighbours.
Radisic, Bosnian Serb member in the three-man Presidency, informed
Mesic, that Bosnian officials had held several meetings with
Serbia's representatives since the election in Yugoslavia and the
last one was at a ministerial level. According to him, Sarajevo is
planning soon to set up full democratic relations with Belgrade.
Radisic said the idea about demilitarisation of Bosnia was
receiving increasing support and in this context Mesic reiterated
his opinion that Bosnia must function on the principle of one army,
one commanding chain and one source of financing the defence.
Suman quoted Mesic as saying that by investing in economic
resources of Bosnia, Croatia would in a better way help Bosnian
Croats.
