ZAGREB, Nov 13 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula on
Monday evening held talks with the head of the OSCE mission in
Bosnia-Herzegovina and of the Provisional Electoral Commission in
that country, Robert Barry, on last Saturday's general elections in
Bosnia.
Robert Barry notified Picula of the conduct of the parliamentary
elections and stressed that to date 25 percent of ballots had been
counted, read a statement released by the Foreign Ministry in
Zagreb.
In view of the fact that incomplete provisional returns show that
national parties have mustered substantial support of the
electorate, the Croatian minister and the US diplomat assessed that
it would be advisable to direct parties to make up coalition in
order to ensure stability and development of democratic mechanisms
in Bosnia.
Picula said the Croatian Government would not back any
radicalisation of the situation in neighbouring Bosnia and pointed
to the necessity of the consistent implementation of the entire
Dayton peace accords.
The fifth anniversary of the conclusion of the agreement, which
will be held this week in Dayton, is a good occasion for the
assessment of successes as well as failures in its implementation,
Picula added.
