The Righteous Among the Nations is an honorific title used by the State of Israel to describe non-Jews who risked their lives during the Holocaust to save Jews from extermination by the Nazis.
To date more than 23,000 non-Jews worldwide have been recognised as Righteous Among the Nations, including 104 Croatians.
At today's ceremony the president of the Croatian-Israeli Society, Filip Rosenzweig, expressed gratitude to people who supported the initiative about the park.
He recalled that during the 1941-1945 Nazi-style Independent State of Croatia, 80% of the the Jewish community was exterminated and that those who saved Jews risking their own lives brought light in those times of darkness.
