DUBROVNIK, Oct 29 (Hina) - A delegation of the Croatian Government, the President and Parliament, on Sunday visited the USS George Washington aircraft carrier sailing in the Adriatic sea. The carrier will anchor in the Dubrovnik
harbour Monday. Croatian officials were received by aircraft commanding officer Rear Admiral Gary Roughead and carrier commanding officer Captain William J. McCarthy. During talks in officer quarters, Croatian vice-premier Zeljka Antunovic gave Roughead a tie and in turn he gave the Croatian delegation honorary medallions and caps with USS George Washington insignia. After touring the ship, the Croatian officials saw a half-hour aircraft flight demonstration. Upon returning to land, Antunovic said such visits had a political message whose meaning is getting closer, acquainted and better understanding. Deputy Defence Minister Zlatko Gareljic said this visit to the US
aircraft carrier was a continuation of good cooperation between
Croatia and America. He added he was in awe with the way in which
American sailors and officers were fulfilling their everyday
tasks.
