"Corruption and organised crime are a devastating force in the establishment of the rule of law. Owing to the inability of previous institutions in preventing them, it has been decided to establish a special office, modelled on Germany and Italy," said the minister. The office with about two dozen employees could start working early next year, he added. It is necessary to pass regulations and earmark about six million kuna in next year's budget. Ivanisevic said the Italian justice minister, with whom a bilateral accord on the prevention of organised crime and corruption was signed, extended assistance in establishing the office.
