KNIN, Oct 13 (Hina) - An association of settlers and immigrants in Croatia, the head office of which is in Knin, on Friday appealed to the Government for urgent assistance to destitute Croats, who are living in the areas of the
special state concern, and in particular to pensioners, who should have received pensions from Bosnia-Herzegovina and who will no longer be entitled to the health insurance in Croatia as of this October. We urge the most responsible officials in Croatia to prolong the health insurance or make it possible for pensioners, who have earned pensions in Bosnia-Herzegovina but cannot now get them in Croatia or receive just 120 German marks, to have free health insurance permanently, read a statement released by the association. the Government for urgent assistance to destitute Croats, who are
living in the areas of the special state concern, and in particular
to pensioners, who should have received pensions from Bosnia-

We urge the most responsible officials in Croatia to prolong the
health insurance or make it possible for pensioners, who have
earned pensions in Bosnia-Herzegovina but cannot now get them in
Croatia or receive just 120 German marks, to have free health
insurance permanently, read a statement released by the
association.
In April this year, the Government in Zagreb ordered to the
Institute for the Pension Insurance to discontinue paying pensions
to retirees who earned them in Bosnia. On 30 June, those pensioners'
right to have the health insurance via the Croatian Health
Insurance Institute was revoked. The Government subsequently
allowed them to enjoy the right by October this year.
Therefore, the association asked Croatian top officials to help
some 7,000 retirees from this category.
The association gathers societies of ethnic Croats who fled Bosnia-
Herzegovina and Kosovo during the last decade's wars in the region,
as well as those who moved from other parts of Croatia into the areas
of special state concern.
