The owner and director of the factory, Jozo Jovic, said that the government had also financed the project with HRK 3.4 million. The factory is expected to process 8 million square metres of oak veneer annually plus 10,000 cubic metres of timber.
During the ceremony PM Kosor said that Croatia's wood processing industry had recovered from the recession, as shown by a 11% rise in its exports in the first months this year as against the last year.
Speaking of bailout measures her cabinet has taken, Kosor mentioned, among other things, government investments of some HRK 700 million in the construction os business zones, and land which the government donated for that purpose, being estimated at some one billion kuna.
The government also reduced parafiscal duties by some 20% to 25 % in a bid to alleviate the position of business people during the crisis.
