ZAGREB, June 21 (Hina) - A non-governmental organisation "GONG" has
expressed dissatisfaction with its communication with the
leadership of the Croatian national parliament and its
administration so far.
Sabor Speaker Zlatko Tomcic has not yet received a GONG delegation,
and its citizens cannot gain an insight into the parliament's
statistics, draft acts or telephone numbers of MP, GONG
representatives complained at a news conference on Wednesday.
This NGO's executive director, Suzana Jasic, told reporters that
they had received an answer from Tomcic's Office that due to his
busy schedule, Tomcic could not receive the GONG delegation but he
would receive them perhaps before the summer holidays. GONG
activists added that this answer reminded them of some previous
times.
Jasic said GONG would ask that an Internet club be installed in the
Sabor so that citizens can communicate with MPs by e-mail.
This organisation will insist on daily up-dating of the Sabor's web
site and volunteer work of citizens, particularly of social
sciences undergraduates.
She announced that GONG was going to organise "civic time" in
constituencies so that deputies can hold talks with voters from
their electoral units.
Ivna Bajsic, the head of GONG's "Open Sabor" action during which
GONG activists have monitored the Sabor's work since February,
described the atmosphere in the Croatian national parliament as
satisfactory. Averagely, 70 deputies (out of 151 to the House of
Representatives) have attended sessions, and sessions have most
frequently been discontinued, owing to the departure of members of
the HDZ - strongest opposition party, Bajsic added.
