ZAGREB, April 26 (Hina) - Croatia's Minister of Environmental Protection and Zoning Bozo Kovacevic said on Wednesday there were 525 illegally built buildings in Croatia and they would have to be torn down by the end of this year since
there were not even minimal conditions for their legalisation. Kovacevic called on the investors into illegally built buildings to tear them down on their own because in that way they would at least save part of the construction material. If they fail to do so, the houses will be demolished by the Ministry, the investors will lose their material and will have to cover the costs of demolition, Kovacevic said. The number of illegally constructed buildings is highest in Zagreb - 176. Zagreb is followed by Rijeka (109), Zadar (90), Split (54), Varazdin (62), Osijek (29) and Pozega (14).
