Especially important is cooperation within the Stability Pact and
mutual support in projects -- Croatia's project of constructing the
Adriatic-Ionic highway, and Macedonia's Corridor 8 project, a
route through Macedonia, Albania and Bulgaria, Croatia's Stipe
Mesic and Macedonia's Boris Trajkovski said.
We agreed our cooperation should continue at all levels, Trajkovski
asserted. He added the two had during talks "promoted the idea of
signing a memorandum on cooperation and understanding with the aim
of both countries' approach to the European Union".
"We concluded there were no outstanding issues on the political
plan, however, as far as economy is concerned, there exist
possibilities for even better cooperation," Trajkovski said.
According to him, one of the problems is regulating payment
transactions between the two countries, the problem employment, as
well as setting quota for the export and import of goods. These
issues will be tackled by a group of experts.
"Our cooperation will aim at achieving European standards,
respecting European criteria and having a European life standard
because there is not a single reason for us to live badly," Mesic
said.
Following the conference Mesic visited the former President of
Macedonia, Kiro Gligorov.
He will also visit the Croatian Embassy in Skopje in the evening and
hold talks with representatives of the Macedonian-Croatian Society
and Croat Community in Macedonia-
Trajkovski will prepare a dinner at which the two presidents will
exchange toasts.
