SARAJEVO, Feb 16 (Hina) - A two-day conference on security issues the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe held in Sarajevo ended on Wednesday. Pact coordinator Bodo Hombach thanked the participants, and especially Bosnia-Herzegovina on the successful organisation of the conference. Nothing can function without security, it is the basis for peace and economic progress, both imperative for the region, Hombach told reporters today. The conference tackled concrete issues, such as demining, weaponry, corruption, military budgets, organised crime, and professional police training, said Jan Ellison, the chairman of the Stability Pact working table for security issues. A total of 112 projects were put forward prior and during the conference, Ellison said, adding realisation will depend on the results of a donors' conference to be held in late March. According to Bosnian Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic, the conference confirmed Bosnia's constructive role in the region, as well as the fact that Bosnia must be placed in the position it deserves, namely to become a member and active factor of all European and Euro-Atlantic integration process. "During the conference, the Bosnian delegation submitted 15 initiatives which are now being considered.
