EDINBURGH, Dec 20 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Thursday visited the Scottish parliament in Edinburgh and addressed its deputies. The President visited Scotland on the last day of his official trip to Great Britain,
where he was invited by the British government. Following talks with the first Scottish minister Jack McConnell, Mesic attended a parliament session. He was welcomed by parliament speaker David Stell, who hailed Croatia's progress towards a stable democracy. In a short address to the parliament, referring to the establishment of Scottish autonomy two years ago, Mesic said Scotland had embarked on the path of parliamentarism in a similar way as Croatia, which, he said, embarked on the path of "true parliamentarism" two years ago.
