ZAGREB, Nov 27 (Hina) - Deputy Parliament Speaker and Social Democratic Party (SDP) whip Mato Arlovic on Tuesday dismissed claims that he was a collaborator of the former Yugoslav military counter-intelligence service (KOS), an
allegation made in an article on the politicians who were tailed by the Croatian military intelligence service (SIS) in the latest issue of the Nacional weekly. The allegations were dismissed by Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) president Anto Djapic as well. He told Hina he had fought against Udba (the former Yugoslav secret police) and KOS his entire life, and dismissed the claims from Nacional as absurd. Arlovic believes the claims are proof that those who had politicians tailed did not chose means to settle accounts with their political opponents. He stressed the need for adopting a new law on secret services which would prevent the abuse of secret files and their being compiled
ZAGREB, Nov 27 (Hina) - Deputy Parliament Speaker and Social
Democratic Party (SDP) whip Mato Arlovic on Tuesday dismissed
claims that he was a collaborator of the former Yugoslav military
counter-intelligence service (KOS), an allegation made in an
article on the politicians who were tailed by the Croatian military
intelligence service (SIS) in the latest issue of the Nacional
weekly.
The allegations were dismissed by Croatian Party of Rights (HSP)
president Anto Djapic as well. He told Hina he had fought against
Udba (the former Yugoslav secret police) and KOS his entire life,
and dismissed the claims from Nacional as absurd.
Arlovic believes the claims are proof that those who had
politicians tailed did not chose means to settle accounts with
their political opponents.
He stressed the need for adopting a new law on secret services which
would prevent the abuse of secret files and their being compiled on
a "hear-say" basis, separate civil from military secret services
and open the issue of people working in secret services.
